Welcome to the Montevideo LGF Chapter

Montevideo is located about 120 miles west of the Minneapolis/St. Paul area on Highway 7. With a community population of around 6,000, this beautiful city is located at the confluence of the Minnesota and Chippewa River Valleys. Our All-American community is the county seat of Chippewa County and is surround by a rich agricultural industry featuring primarily corn, soybeans, and sugar beets. A strong retail business community and several large industries like Jennie-O, Friendship Homes, and Ice Castle Fish Houses provide shopping and job opportunities for hundreds of area residents.

The Montevideo Area Chapter will take most of our Let’s Go Fishing outings on Lac Qui Parle Lake and the Minnesota River. Lac Qui Parle Lake and the Lac Qui Parle State Game Refuge area provide a wonderland for a variety of wildlife. Excellent fishing on Lac Qui Parle includes walleyes, northern pike crappies, silver bass, and catfish. The Minnesota River is a picturesque area with great catfish and walleye fishing. We are hoping to get out on the Minnesota River as soon as 2017 as a boat landing and dock will be put in by Wegdahl.
